From the age of three to thirteen, Wen Jinxin dreamed for ten whole years.
In her dreams, she was peerless in strategy and utterly invincible. Hand in hand with a man, she restored a kingdom battered by storm and upheaval, gradually rebuilding its shattered lands until they once again flourished as they had before.
Then she worked herself to exhaustion, drained her heart and strength, and died before the age of forty.
After the fourth young lady of the Wen family recovered from a serious illness at the age of three, she woke one morning, rubbed her eyes, and told her dear mother, "Mama, I dreamed last night that Jinxin died."
Her mother was instantly furious, flicked Jinxin on the forehead, and took away her little treats for half a month.
As Jinxin grew older, she got wiser and quietly set herself a goal: to live safely to the age of ninety-nine.
I, Wen Jinxin, just want to be a little good-for-nothing with a father, a mother, a concubine mother, older brothers and sisters, and younger siblings.
As for being empress... Whoever wants the job can have it. I'm done with it.
A cozy, slice-of-life farming story, with a food-loving heroine. Got it?
Ginger soup for your feet, goji berry tea, this year's dates are so sweet! Black sesame is so fragrant!
The male lead's point of view:
When my wife died, snow fell in drifting flakes. When I chased after her, willow catkins filled the city.
After entrusting the kingdom to capable hands, He Shinian put on the outfit she loved most and held the wine she had loved in life but could no longer drink because of her illness. He died in the season when he would reunite with Jinxin.
When he awoke again, he had become his own four- or five-year-old self, the one who had wandered the streets. The little beggar, dressed in rags, clutched a familiar hand warmer and a soft, fragrant pastry. He leaned against the wall, gazing wistfully after the carriage as it clattered away.
He Shinian was overcome with tears, ecstatic and desperate to chase after her at once.
But he couldn't.
First, he had to take care of all the troublesome matters. Then he would return and stay by the side of the wife who, deep in her heart, only wanted to live an ordinary life beside her parents. Together, they would be ordinary people in Jinling.
I want neither kingdom nor beauty. I only want to be a little physician in Jinling. As long as she's by my side, everything will be fine.
I'll make the pastries she loves, brew the wine she likes, and stay by her side so we can live to a ripe old age.
My dear wife Jinxin, shall we grow old together?
This novel was originally titled "Snow Falls in Drifting Flakes, Willow Catkins Fill the City." Later, the author decided it wasn't simple or direct enough to attract clicks, so the title was changed.
An unconventional dual rebirth story. To a certain extent, the heroine's soul can be said to have split into two parts: a stronger personality, carrying all her memories, fell into a deep sleep, while the weaker part retained only its instincts and grew up in a daze. As she grew older, she gradually absorbed the memories, and the two parts merged.
(You can understand it as dissociative identity disorder, but I'm not a psychology expert and can't come up with an exactly apt comparison, so this explanation is more straightforward.)
The heroine spends the whole story lying flat and enjoying her retirement, occasionally rallying herself, only to lie flat again in short order.
A fictional setting.
