A Maid's Daily Life in the Marquis's Household

Jiang Tang transmigrates into a household-intrigue novel as the dowry maid of its hugely successful heroine. According to the original plot, when the heroine becomes pregnant, Jiang Tang uses her pretty face to seduce the male lead. He shows no mercy, throwing her out and sending her to an estate, where she freezes to death on a winter's day. As Jiang Tang knows, the heroine, Lu Jinyao, is a household-intrigue expert blessed with incredible good luck. As long as Jiang Tang faithfully sticks by her, she'll rise to wealth and status, and even her family and pets will prosper. The good life is just around the corner. * Jiang Tang thinks she's got a lie-flat-and-win storyline. She figures she can spend her days lounging in the tea room, eating, drinking, and having fun while shipping the hero and heroine, and live happily ever after. But then the heroine loses her appetite because of her pregnancy, and the male lead threatens to throw them all out. Jiang Tang: ? Jiang Tang: I shipped them, but it didn't quite work out. * Being a maid in the marquis's household is a high-paying job: fixed hours, payday in the middle of the month, and generous bonuses now and then. Once you retire and buy back your freedom, even a modest nest egg can make you a local landowner. Jiang Tang is determined to be a good maid. Only, somewhere along the way, she becomes the heroine's sister-in-law. Content warning: The extra chapters include childbirth. This is not a power fantasy centered on a strong female lead. If you want to read about the heroine overthrowing the ruling order, don't click in. Slow burn. The heroine will eventually buy back her freedom. By “lie flat,” I mean taking things as they come, so I didn't use the word “slacker” in the blurb. Read the blurb before deciding whether to start. Please don't tell me when you drop the novel, and don't bring up other authors' works in the comments. No disruptive comments, please. Theme: Even in adversity, face the sun and keep growing.
