Before you read:

(1) Li Chu is reborn.

(2) The Tang Dynasty setting is partly fictionalized and does not follow history completely.

(3) Chu and Tan are forever best brothers. Dongzhu, Tannu 999.

(4) There is an original male supporting character.

“When I was little, Mother taught me to hold my younger brother’s hand and take good care of him. I failed to look after him. Father, if anyone is to blame, let me bear it alone. Please punish me. I will share Tan’er’s sentence.”

In the past, Li Chu had begged and wept, his cries full of anguish, but nothing could soften the emperor’s heart. The only thing he could do was gulp down a cup of poisoned wine, so that his younger brother Tan might live the rest of his life in peace and good health. When Li Chu opened his eyes again, he had returned to his childhood. His siblings were safe, he got along well with his father, the empire had not been ravaged by war, and the Li imperial family had not suffered the humiliation of fleeing in panic.

Li Chu stood below the steps and glanced at An Lushan, who stood there righteously. The corner of his mouth lifted as he prepared to face An Lushan and his followers head-on.

As the saying goes, the first drumbeat inspires courage, the second weakens it, and the third exhausts it. Standing atop Tong Pass, Li Chu watched coldly as arrows flew and the banner bearing the character An fell. The An army descended into chaos, and he grinned with delight.

“An Lushan, oh, An Lushan! Let’s see how you’ll lead your iron cavalry across the lands of the Li Tang dynasty now that all you have left is a rabble!”

Moral: When it comes to stirring up trouble, Prince Guangping, you’re still the best.
