[SK] Detective Kudo's Warrant for Arrest

== The full manuscript is complete. Starts May 4, 2024. ==

Edogawa Conan stared into the bronze mirror at his unfamiliar face for what felt like the thousandth time, then rolled a familiar name over his tongue: Kudo Shinichi.

He was the eldest son of the Kudo family, and their only child. He had a privileged background that would make any fanfiction reader envious, but everything he had came to an abrupt end when he was six.

Afterward...

He grew up on Xiaoyao Mountain, and Xiaoyao Mountain was his whole world.

Kudo Shinichi once thought that after uncovering the truth behind the slaughter of his entire family, he would die alongside the person behind it. There was nothing left in this world worth holding on to.

Until he met Kuroba Kaito.

After calling Kuroba his senior brother for more than ten years, Kudo Shinichi never expected he would one day fall for him. He only realized his feelings after someone tricked him into reading a romance about love between men.

He planned to confess once he came of age, but he never expected his senior brother Kuroba, two years older than him, to leave the mountain in a carefree manner the very year he came of age, never to be seen again.

By the time Kudo Shinichi was allowed to leave the mountain, the martial world had no trace of a young man named Kuroba Kaito. After searching far and wide, he found only a notorious thief who had recently risen to fame: the Phantom Thief Kid.

Scene one:

Kudo Shinichi leaned against the Phantom Thief's slender shoulder, one arm loosely around his waist. Looking up at the thief's slightly grim expression, he stubbornly called, "Senior Brother."

The Phantom Thief sighed. His glider turned with effortless ease, and he looked down to meet Kudo Shinichi's gaze. "I really can't do anything with you, junior brother."

Scene two:

When Kudo Shinichi first learned he had lost his martial arts, he resented his own weakness for letting his injuries become so severe. But after receiving a letter from a friend far away, he hesitated, packed his things, and left Xiaoyao Mountain.

"Even though I've lost my martial arts, I think my reasonably quick mind can still be of use to Your Highness." Kudo Shinichi smiled at the handsome young man before him, dressed in splendid clothes. "Of course, I'll need to be paid."

Notes:

(1) Shinichi/Kaito historical fantasy AU, one-on-one pairing, no breaking up or reversing the pairing.

(2) Constable junior brother x chivalrous thief senior brother

(3) There are melodramatic plot elements. Protect your eyes.

(4) Later on, Kudo Shinichi will lose his martial arts and his sight. He'll be down for a while, perhaps, but will regain his sight. His martial arts loss is permanent, though he'll retain a few basic fighting skills.

Theme: The world stretches far and wide, yet it is all chains.
