The Crown Prince of Rumor [Qing Dynasty]

An If Line Where Yinreng Dies Young What different ending would there have been if Yinreng had been assassinated and killed while visiting Kangxi, who was ill? Kangxi anxiously awaited his beloved son coming to visit him. All he got was his third son, covered in blood, and the still-warm body of his beloved child. For a moment, the world spun around him, and grief left him unable to speak. A purge, triggered by the Crown Prince's assassination, began to unfold. Everyone in court was suddenly on edge, afraid of being connected in any way to the Crown Prince's murder. Later, Kangxi issued an edict posthumously honoring Yinreng as Crown Prince Yihui, with the posthumous name Min. Years later, Kangxi could still recall all the little moments he had shared with Yinreng. He would often sit alone in Yǔqìng Palace for an entire day. Sometimes he would gaze at Prince Hongxi in the palace, his eyes reddening before he sighed, "You look so much like your father." On the day he died, Kangxi held Hongxi's hand and said, "You have your father's bearing." He then appointed him Crown Prince's heir, to inherit the empire. Hongxi closed his eyes and bowed, speaking hoarsely. "Your son Yinreng respectfully bids farewell to Father Emperor." ◎ Saving this idea for later ◎ May 18, 2022 Theme: Exploring whether Yinreng's early death was plausible
