A Palace Maid Becomes a Consort in the Qing Dynasty

Blurb: Palace intrigue and a fight for the throne!

Yuewei knew from the moment she entered the palace that she might be the historical Consort Ding, the longest-lived consort in the Qing dynasty, of the Wanyan clan.

At the time, all she wanted was freedom. She worked diligently in the palace for nearly ten years, and was just about to leave and find a world of her own.

But right at the end, something went wrong, and a palace maid became a consort by accident.

Since she was destined to struggle in the harem, she would become the most honored woman there.

Later, Kangxi watched helplessly as all the women in his harem, once gentle and kind, tender as water, lively and adorable, bright and dazzling, became utterly loathsome.

He watched one dutiful, clever, virtuous, talented, and upright son after another fight tooth and nail for the crown prince's position, turning against their brothers and growing to hate their father.

Meanwhile, the son he had thought least of, Yintang, and his most unassuming woman became the ultimate victors in both the palace and the court when he suffered a stroke.

Note: Set during the Kangxi era of the Qing dynasty, with a partly fictionalized setting, so don't sweat the historical accuracy. Palace intrigue. The heroine is quiet and unassuming in public, but beautiful, ruthless, clever, and principled!

Theme: Hard work pays off. If you want something, work hard to get it.
