Yuewei knew from the moment she entered the palace that she might be Ding Fei, the Qing dynasty consort who lived the longest in history, a member of the Wan Liuha clan.

At the time, all she wanted was freedom. She worked diligently in the palace for nearly ten years, and was just about to leave and find a whole new world beyond its walls.

But just when she was so close, things went wrong, and a palace maid ended up becoming a consort.

Faced with freedom on one side and the allure of power on the other, what will she choose?

Yuewei: All I ever wanted was freedom. But if that's how things are, then I'll have both the fish and the bear's paw!!!

Later, Kangxi watches helplessly as the gentle, kind, tender-hearted, lively, adorable, bright, and dazzling women in his harem all become repulsive.

He watches helplessly as his filial, sensible, brilliant, virtuous, talented, and upright sons fight tooth and nail for the position of Crown Prince, turning against one another and growing to hate their father.

And the son he thought least of, Yin Tuo, and his most unassuming woman end up as the last winners in both the inner court and the imperial court when he suffers a stroke.

Warning: Set during the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (partly fictionalized, so don't nitpick the history). The heroine is quiet and low-key in public, but beautiful and ruthless in truth. She doesn't fall in love. Enter with caution.
