Blurb:
When A Chu was thirteen, war separated her from her family. Forced to enter the palace as a servant, she hid her identity and became a lowly palace maid in the Laundry Bureau.
Rumor had it that the new emperor, Huo Jingxuan, was peerlessly handsome, but cruel by nature and uninterested in women. A Chu dutifully hid away in the Laundry Bureau, washing clothes for two years. The one time she ventured outside, she happened to run into the emperor’s carriage. That very night, she was bundled off to his bed.
A Chu: The palace maids who try to seduce His Majesty all get beaten to death. I’m going to die tonight too, sob…
She wanted to cry but didn’t dare. The tiny girl huddled into a ball, timidly staring at the man before her in imperial robes. She never expected Huo Jingxuan to hold her, comfort her, and take her hand, promising her the position of empress.
What A Chu didn’t know was that the first thing Huo Jingxuan did after returning to the capital was send people to find her. He had been searching for two whole years.
Huo Jingxuan: The world has changed, and all is different, but thankfully, Chuchu is safe and sound.
[Little Scene]
Everyone assumed that Huo Jingxuan had chosen A Chu but still left her as a palace maid because he simply didn’t care about her.
They didn’t know that in the stillness of the night, as candlelight flickered and their fingers intertwined on the bed, Huo Jingxuan, usually so composed and restrained, would kiss A Chu’s flushed cheek and murmur in a low, husky voice, “Chuchu, I’ll make you empress tomorrow.”
It wasn’t that Huo Jingxuan begrudged her a title. He wanted to welcome her into the palace with the grandest wedding.

3. The female lead is not a substitute. There is a ten-year age gap between the leads.
4. Everything in the story is fictional.
5. A light, sweet romantic comedy.
6. More notes may be added later.

The mysterious Demon King: Come here and cultivate.
Xiyao: …Do you believe I could kill you all with one sword strike?
Everyone thinks I’m a weakling, but I’m actually insanely strong.

Blurb:
Crown Prince Shen Yuqi is unpredictable and has fallen out of favor with the emperor. He’s only one imperial decree away from being deposed.
Everyone avoids the Eastern Palace, but A Sheng happily makes her way there with her bundle.
The crown prince stays shut indoors all day and doesn’t like having servants attend to him, so all she has to do is tidy up the courtyards. She gets paid and doesn’t have to serve her master. It couldn’t be an easier job.
One day, while secretly roasting fish in the back courtyard, A Sheng attracts a young eunuch she’s never seen before.
The young eunuch is wearing a rumpled undershirt and stares without blinking at the fish in her hands.
A Sheng thinks he’s handsome and takes pity on him, giving him a fish. From then on, they become partners in crime and devour everything edible in the Eastern Palace.
Suspected by his father, Shen Yuqi was poisoned with a strange toxin and confined to the Eastern Palace, where he was left to await his end.
After one bout of the poison, he wakes to the smell of roasted fish and discovers that the new cleaning maid has roasted the South Seas’ tribute, the priceless dragonfish.
At first, Shen Yuqi thinks that a servant who breaks the rules like this deserves to die.
Later…
He and the little palace maid each lounge on a daybed in the courtyard, soaking up the sun and listening to music as they roast sweet potatoes and eat grilled fish. He thinks… it’s delicious.
Then the little palace maid mentions her so-called dream, which is really nothing more than leaving the palace and going home.
The more Shen Yuqi thinks about it, the more uncomfortable he feels, so that night he summons her to attend to him personally.
Only when Shen Yuqi pins her against a wall, holding her chin and kissing her, does A Sheng realize that the person who’s been lazing around with her all this time isn’t a eunuch. He’s the crown prince!
