[Illustration thanks to @When the Stars Scatter and @Cang Shou, Have You Drawn Today?] When Jiang Tang woke up, he was nearly starving to death. Hearing the sound of plants being trampled nearby, he used all his strength to roll out and block someone’s path. Black clothes, a sword at his back, and blood all over him. It was as if countless sword lights were hidden in his eyes, but Jiang Tang didn’t notice. He simply wrapped his front paws around the man’s leg with all his might. “Let go,” the man said coldly, stepping forward to leave. A soft, fluffy little ball clung to him, its tiny milk teeth biting the hem of his clothes. Its two eyes were watery. “Wuu.” · Only later did Jiang Tang find out that he had transmigrated into a book, and that the man he had stopped was Fu Sheng, a great villain who killed without batting an eye. In the story, Fu Sheng slaughtered Zeyang Prefecture and destroyed countless immortal sects. His cultivation was peerless, and he was ruthless and merciless. And Jiang Tang was the story’s ultimate tonic, an auspicious beast coveted by everyone. Jiang Tang, who treasured his life, guarded his secret identity, clung to Fu Sheng’s leg, and acted cute, even crawling into his arms to sleep at night. He hoped that once Fu Sheng grew attached to him, even the hardest steel would turn gentle, and Fu Sheng would spare his life. QAQ Until one day, Jiang Tang’s whole body hurt terribly. He burrowed into Fu Sheng’s arms, tossing and turning and whimpering all night, before finally passing out. When he woke up, he met Fu Sheng’s deep eyes and weakly raised one arm Wait, a hand? In the story, Song Shu was a black-hearted lotus. Outwardly, he was as pristine as moonlight and wind, but inside he was sinister and insane. Later, after tearing off his mask of lofty purity, he massacred an entire immortal estate and waited atop a tower built of human bones for the cultivation world to come and wipe him out. Normally, anyone who learned Song Shu’s true nature would panic. But Jiang Yu calculated that this plot was still three hundred years away! Whether he could even live that long was another matter. For now, Song Shu was the foremost Immortal Lord, and his disciples enjoyed excellent benefits. Jiang Yu had never lived so comfortably, even in the modern world. So the lazy fish simply lay back. While lazing about on Tingyun Peak, Jiang Yu, who didn’t want to cultivate, learned that the spiritual energy around him would grow especially dense whenever Song Shu was injured and went into seclusion. So he shamelessly went to sleep outside Song Shu’s hall to increase his cultivation while lying down. When he accidentally ran into Song Shu coming out of seclusion early, he pretended to wake with a start and tugged pitifully at Song Shu’s sleeve. “Master, does it still hurt?” No feelings, just acting. Anyway, Song Shu still had to play the part of a magnanimous, gentle Immortal Lord, so he wouldn’t punish Jiang Yu for his impertinence. Unexpectedly, the massacre of the immortal estate, which wasn’t supposed to happen for another three hundred years, began before Jiang Yu was ready. Jiang Yu fled in panic but was caught and dragged back. Song Shu’s hand closed around his neck. “I’ve been thinking about some things lately,” Song Shu said gently, his lowered eyes somewhat cold. “It’s distracting me from my meditation.” Jiang Yu thought there was still a chance to salvage the situation. “M-Master should be single-minded while cultivating…” “But I’m distracted.” Song Shu’s bloodstained hand stroked Jiang Yu’s fragile neck. “I’m in a terrible state.” “I’m thinking about you.” Theme: Only by choosing you without hesitation can I show how much I love you.
