Ever Since I Bought a Paladin in the Song Dynasty

Also known as The Knight Worth Eight Coins, The Right Way to Raise a Golden Retriever, and Journey to the East

More bizarre than waking up to find he'd transmigrated into a fantasy version of Song Dynasty steampunk was discovering a golden-haired paladin on a smuggler's ship, nearly at death's door.

They say he was born in an obscure little village.

They say he was blessed by God, a saint who never lost a battle.

They say that just as the fighting began to ease, his own king cruelly tied him to a barbecue, no, a stake to burn him alive...

Xie Zhao slapped his thigh in excitement. Good grief, this guy even got Joan of Arc's gender-swapped story! Without hesitation, he scooped the clueless, chosen golden retriever into his own bowl.

As the saying goes, foreign knights have three treasures: handsome, big-chested, and with a perky butt (crossed out), kind-hearted, strong, and unable to understand Chinese.

The first Chinese word the golden retriever learned was: Damn.

Xie Zhao: Damn.

To repay the favor of the Golden Terrace, I would take up my jade dragon sword and die for you.

P.S.:

1. A 1.9-meter-tall, airheaded sweetheart of a golden retriever (not really) top x a heartless tech nerd who cheats and swindles, and thinks nothing of doing a little evil. The top has no actual connection to Joan of Arc; only some parts of their life stories are similar.

2. An unconventional take on the setting, with demons and steampunk technology. The background has been given some deliberately vague, special adjustments for convenience, and historical figures from the period will appear.

3. Contains battle-scarred tough guys, Chinese-style steam armor, air fortresses modeled after Kongming lanterns, warlocks, qi cultivators, and other unscientific elements. The inspiration for the story came from science fiction literature of the late Qing Dynasty.
