The Husband Who Died on the Eve of Her Remarriage Came Back to Life

Du Xuanzhou, the Great Meng Empire's God of War, dies on the battlefield. Along with the news of his death comes the revelation that the emperor had arranged a marriage between Du Xuanzhou and the young master of the Chancellor's household. When the imperial decree arrives at the Chancellor's residence, the Chancellor's face immediately darkens, and the Chancellor's wife nearly faints from crying. Only Zhong Juyu is beaming. He runs back to his room to pack, ready to get married at once. As long as he leaves home, his mother won't be able to force him to study anymore! The Chancellor's wife looks at her cheerful, clueless son and anxiously warns him how deep the waters run in the general's household, and how hard it is to be a widowed husband. Zhong Juyu remains cheerful. As long as he doesn't have to study, anything is fine! * Everyone in the capital knows that the young master of the Chancellor's household, Zhong Juyu, is a vision of beauty and has plenty of admirers. Not long after he marries into the general's household, rumors spread throughout the capital that he's too young to endure the loneliness and has been cheating on his husband. When the rumors reach Zhong Juyu, he immediately packs his things and knocks on the door of the Minister's son, the man rumored to be having an affair with him. He loudly asks when the young man plans to come propose, explaining that he has already packed up the general's household wealth and is ready to marry someone else at any time. The Minister's son is so frightened that he quickly denies having anything to do with him and says that the rumor came from the Prince of the Commandery. Zhong Juyu immediately takes his bundle to the Prince's residence and asks whether he wants to go to the palace together and have the emperor arrange a marriage for them. When Du Xuanzhou returns after faking his death, he learns that his wife has lovers all over the capital and that at least twenty green hats have been put on his head. * Later, Du Xuanzhou ties him to the bed, opens a little notebook filled with the names of his rivals, and asks in a low voice, "Should we act out your wedding to the Minister's son today, then have me take his place on your wedding night and spend it with you? Or would you rather pretend that His Majesty has granted you to the Prince of the Commandery, only for me to snatch you back to the manor and take you to bed on your wedding day?" Zhong Juyu: ???
