Coming soon. The start date is undecided, but once it begins, there will be a new chapter every day.
[A calm heroine with a stable temperament like a capybara x an upright hero whose old tree has finally bloomed, and he's completely beside himself]
Tang Ciyue is a sword cultivator of Chuyun Mountain, the youngest direct disciple of sect leader Zhang Xiaoyun, and something of a "final disciple."
That is just a polite way of putting it. Chuyun Mountain is a small sect with one mountain peak and only five disciples in all, every one of them a direct disciple of the sect leader.
Only the sect leader, Zhang Xiaoyun, is truly remarkable. He once single-handedly slaughtered two great demonic sects with nothing but his sword. One sword cleansed the sea, and all the ghosts wept. The world called him the "Sword Fiend."
But just before he was to reach the Mahayana realm, Zhang Xiaoyun suddenly went into seclusion. He remained there for three hundred years without a word. He must have died in some cave.
The world changed, and time passed. Before long, few people remembered that Chuyun Mountain had ever existed. The disciples of Chuyun Mountain also went their separate ways. After all, a living sword cultivator can't let a dead master hold them back.
Tang Ciyue alone stayed behind. It wasn't that she was particularly stubborn. She simply forgot to leave.
The flowers and plants on the mountain needed tending. The little courtyards where her master and senior brothers lived needed regular repairs. Someone had to watch over the ginseng in the fields. And the wine her master had hidden could easily be stolen by an Earth Immortal.
Most importantly, before entering seclusion, her master had left a cultivation method carved into a stone wall and a sword manual. Tang Ciyue had little talent and couldn't understand them.
And so she became the sect's left-behind child. Watching over the mountain, the grass, the courtyards, and the sword manual, she passed three hundred years without even noticing.
Then, one day, three hundred years later, Tang Ciyue finally mastered the entire sword manual and committed the cultivation method to memory.
Overjoyed, she dug up the wine beneath a tree, intending to celebrate with her fellow disciples. Only then did she realize that the vast sect had changed beyond recognition. She was alone, with nothing but the pines covering the mountain.
Tang Ciyue thought it over and over, then slung a small bundle over her back and descended the mountain, just as she had once carried a little bundle and climbed the nine hundred and ninety-nine steps to join the sect.
"I'll go see the world below. I'll find out where Master was buried and whether my senior brothers are safe."
What? Senior Brother and Second Senior Brother both failed to win Third Senior Sister's affections, so each married the other's older sister and became brothers-in-law?
What? Third Senior Sister had an unrequited crush on the leader of a prestigious sect, and in a fit of rage, seduced the leaders of twenty-seven sects across three mountains and four seas?
What? Fourth Senior Brother was a snake demon who had already cultivated into a dragon, but fell in love with a golden dragon, who dug out his demon core and turned him into an earthworm?
What?
Master arranged a childhood betrothal for me before going into seclusion?
That boy heard a rumor and thought I was already dead. He built me a shrine and offered incense to me. The shrine has drawn worshippers for a hundred years, and now that I'm still alive, I've gained three hundred years of virtuous merit for nothing?
The endless stream of gossip left Tang Ciyue at a loss.
But what's done is done. She might as well eat first.
