[Synopsis]

Ten years after the nuclear apocalypse, the shelter's resources have run dry. Su Zhi, its sole survivor, decides to return to the surface and join up with the other humans.
That day, he drives an old pickup truck, carrying a small vial containing a floating, nonhuman intelligence. Leaving the boundless wasteland behind, he sets out on a journey in search of hope.
From the desolate wastelands, to the Cambrian Zone teeming with exploding populations of new species, and then to the disaster belt, where thousands of miles of land have been scorched.

Along the way, the life-form in the vial, which can mimic other beings, learns to transform into all kinds of animals they encounter on their journey.
It becomes a tiger to chase away the hyenas that attack Su Zhi. It turns into a snow leopard so Su Zhi can curl up against its belly and warm himself when he is freezing. It also becomes a cute cat, dog, bird, or crow, staying by Su Zhi's side the whole time.
Su Zhi names it "Miracle."

Then one day, Miracle takes human form before his eyes. Its features are exactly those of the face Su Zhi has drawn countless times.
"Hello, Su Zhi."
The lonely, wandering Su Zhi finally hears another human voice.
