Poverty Makes You Better

Penny-pinching little money-lover bottom vs. goofy, rich-as-can-be husky-like top

(Short version)

"Sir, it's been six months since you kicked the young master out and cut off his allowance."

"Has he learned his lesson?"

"He made his own fortune."

(Full version)

Before transmigrating into a book, the bottom had never imagined anyone could be this poor. The kind of thing he'd seen online, where someone made one packet of instant noodles last a whole day, was happening to him for real.

So the pampered young master, who'd never known hardship, was forced to set out on the road to wealth. He sold school supplies on campus, barbecue outside school, and even recruited a few top students to tutor their classmates with him.

A big spender showed up on the very first day he set up his tutoring business. He tossed his schoolbag onto the table and said arrogantly, "All right, how much per point improvement?"

The young master thought for a moment, then silently held up one finger.

"Ten yuan per point?" The big spender scoffed. "Kid, you're thinking way too small."

"No." The young master shook his head. "One thousand yuan per point. Is that big enough for you?"

The big spender: "..."

The big spender: "Kid, that's daylight robbery."

The young master: "So, are you signing up or not?"

The big spender had plenty of money, but he wasn't stupid. He was so clever that paying a thousand yuan per point would let this kid make a fortune. Even poverty relief wasn't supposed to work like that.

So he promptly refused: "I'm not signing up!"

But on the very same day, he saw the kid sitting pitifully by the roadside, gnawing on a plain steamed bun, without even a packet of pickled vegetables to go with it.

The big spender talked himself into it. He'd just consider it poverty relief.

The next day, while handing out flyers, the young master ran into him again.

The big spender took the flyers from his hand, stuffed them into his pocket, and growled, "Cash or Alipay?"
