Everyone Wants to Date the Master

Decades have passed since the game launched. Honmaru filled with max-level players who've completed every entry in the compendium are everywhere, but Saniwa are so rare they're worth a fortune. If anyone wants a lord, they have to spend money on gacha pulls instead.

The latest rate-up banner was back. Seeing how empty and quiet the main seat in their Honmaru was, and how every other household was celebrating their pulls, one Kawara-born fellow finished sweeping, leaned on his broom at the Honmaru gate, sighed, then turned around to consult the heads of several sword schools. Gritting their teeth, they threw every last Ofuda into the banner.

At exactly 320 pulls, the banner glowed gold.

They had pulled a little girl with orange hair in a side ponytail.

The little girl was lovely, with features as beautiful as the moon in the sky. When she smiled, her eyes seemed to hold spring mountains and autumn waters, and even the breeze in the dimples of her cheeks was intoxicating.

The Saniwa was the treasure of the entire Honmaru.

They had to keep a constant watch, lest someone else sweet-talk their treasure away.

Years later, after someone stole their treasure, the sword tsukumogami learned that the two-tailed Konnosuke in their Honmaru had actually been a spy sent by Heian-kyo, and that the Heroic Spirits of Chaldea snuck into the courtyard every night.

You can guard against theft by day and night, but you can't guard against a thief in your own home.
