Gradually losing the ability to tell humans from animals, he works numbly in a factory that, to his eyes, is filled with the corpses of his own kind, becoming the cold-hearted butcher of the original story. Until the factory suddenly gets a new owner, and the world in his eyes changes. The young owner asks him curiously what he looks like to him. The butcher says nothing. He sees the owner in front of him with angel wings and pure white rabbit ears. An angel, he answers silently. World Four: Containment. A facility researcher X a newly arrived contained anomaly He is a researcher responsible for studying anomalous life-forms, living day after day inside a sunless facility. His daily work consists of studying and dissecting contained anomalies. He shows no mercy when dealing with these strange, nonhuman creatures. That is because he is a fervent human supremacist. Until a highly dangerous contained anomaly is brought to the facility. A contained anomaly so beautiful it hardly seems human. World Five: The False Ones. A lonely android yearning for love X an underground online idol He is an android, a machine in the eyes of humanity. Day after day, he works for humans, hoping to earn their acceptance. All he gets in return is the same cold expression. Humans never welcome androids. He gradually grows numb and, in the original story, joins the android rebel army, giving his life for the heroine. But this time, amid the city’s murky neon lights, a human smiles back at him. That human is the cheapest idol in the underground black market. For the right price, he will sing for you. World Six: The Haunting of Fengjia Town. An ugly Gu creature with a human torso and a snake’s tail X the gentle new priest in town A gentle, handsome priest comes to the conservative little town. The townsfolk pray to him for God’s favor, treating him as God’s representative in the mortal world. No one knows that a monster the townsfolk avoid at all costs is hidden in the priest’s church, carefully watching him perform Mass. World Seven: Old Tales of Mazhen. A greedy, stingy landowner X a money-grubbing porter at the town’s wharf In the original story, the landowner dies a horrible death. This time, he doesn’t set his sights on one of the town’s unmarried young women. Instead, he falls for a new porter at the wharf who carries sacks. The landowner keeps the young, handsome, impoverished porter as his lover. Contrary to his stingy nature, he calls him his darling all day long and gives him whatever he wants. At the same time, he constantly suspects that his young lover will fall for someone else. The human-face tumor on his neck keeps telling him that his lover will soon leave him because of his ugly, deformed appearance and jealous, twisted personality, and that only a cure can win back his lover’s heart. At last, the landowner resolves to have surgery and remove the human-face tumor from his neck. After the operation, the human-face tumor in his hand keeps shouting that it’s the real landowner and he’s the fake. The “landowner” throws it away, finally free to embrace his handsome lover and find true happiness. World Eight: Star of Life. A wandering android X a pure-blooded human In the distant future, the human population has plummeted. Androids have become society’s worker bees, giving everything to ensure humanity’s survival. Every android’s chip is engraved with loyalty to humankind. He is an abandoned android wandering the desert graveyard beyond Eden, searching, like all the others of his kind, for a human master he will never find.
