My other book, "Even Dogs Won't Date Like This," is now available. Sweethearts, go check it out!
This story:
Gu Chenyu, the top student at No. 1 High School, excels at everything and ranks first in class.
When Wen Xiyue first became his deskmate, she was constantly on edge. But as she worked on her homework, her elbow gradually crept onto Gu Chenyu's desk. When she noticed, she stared at her own hand in horror.
Gu Chenyu always caught her startled expression. Amused, he would deliberately raise a fist to scare the girl: "Cross the line again and I'll beat you up."
But despite what he said, the girl was restless in her sleep during lunch break. Before long, she would accidentally take up a huge stretch of her deskmate's territory.
The fierce, delinquent boy, with his long arms and legs, didn't want to wake her. Though he was big, he kept scooting over until he was curled up by the corner of the desk, still playing games.
Little scene: One time, the girl did badly on a math test and lay glumly on her desk.
Gu Chenyu had just come back from playing basketball and hadn't even had time to wipe off his sweat. He saw the girl, practically radiating dejection.
He tapped her desk with a slender finger and asked, "What's wrong?"
The girl lifted her head pitifully, her fair, adorable face scrunched up. "I did terribly on my math test."
Gu Chenyu looked at the bright red 60 on Wen Xiyue's paper, then at the 145 on his own desk, and said nothing.
But during lunch break, Gu Chenyu returned her test paper. It was covered with handwritten explanations of all her mistakes.
Wen Xiyue looked at it, and her furrowed brow relaxed like a breeze had blown past. Her crescent eyes curved into a smile.
Gu Chenyu sat down and carefully went over the problems with her, explaining how to solve them. Wen Xiyue glanced at the sunlight streaming in through the window and thought how lovely it was. Then she looked at the boy teaching her, and thought he was even lovelier.
"Even Dogs Won't Date Like This" blurb:
Tong Wei and Qin Shi had a love story that began in school uniforms and ended in wedding attire, the kind countless people dreamed of.
Back then, Qin Shi was a hedgehog covered in spikes. Smoking, drinking, fighting, getting tattoos... He did everything forbidden by school rules. You could say he was a walking book of school regulations.
Tong Wei was a poor girl whose schooling was funded by the Qin family. At Qin Shi's father's request that she look after Qin Shi at school and steer him back onto the right path, Tong Wei gave up her chance to attend the honors class and transferred to the disreputable Class 18, where Qin Shi studied.
For the first time in three years of middle school, Qin Shi, who had never had a deskmate, got one.
For the first time, someone woke Qin Shi, who slept through class and whom no one dared disturb.
For the first time, someone snatched the cigarette from Qin Shi's mouth as he smoked in the corridor and flushed it down the drain.
Qin Shi had made countless enemies. One day, when he was alone and outnumbered by a group surrounding him, someone stood up to protect him for the first time.
Everyone could see his love growing day by day, and the courage they found in love to aim for the best university in the country.
But the two everyone had believed in ended up parting ways in their graduation year. Tong Wei failed the entrance exams and got into only an ordinary second-tier university, while Qin Shi went abroad to study.
When they met again, Tong Wei was an entertainment reporter, barely making ends meet by writing celebrity gossip.
He was a playboy in the entertainment industry, changing girlfriends one after another.
At an event with his date, Qin Shi was asked by an entertainment reporter if he planned to get married.
Tong Wei was there too.
Qin Shi glanced at Tong Wei, sneered, and said slowly and clearly, "Back in high school, I did. Later, I realized that girl wasn't worth it."
Tong Wei's eyes instantly reddened.
But after the event, the person who should have left appeared in front of Tong Wei and cornered her. Looking down at her tear-red eyes, he said, "I thought you would never show up in front of me again in this lifetime. But you did, so are you ready to face the revenge I'm about to take?"
Later, Tong Wei blushed and covered her swollen lips, finally understanding what he meant by revenge.
A reporter with a keen instinct recently noticed that Qin Shi, who used to change girlfriends in less than a month, no longer had a single woman around him. He used to leave his shirt unbuttoned down to just below his Adam's apple, but now it was buttoned up tight, not a trace of it showing.
At last, the reporter couldn't help asking, "Young Master Qin, are you focusing on your career lately? We haven't seen you with a date."
Qin Shi, who had always been nonchalant when reporters asked him questions, looked the reporter in the eye for the first time. "Didn't you ask me last time if I wanted to get married? Yes, there's someone I want to marry."
Reporter: "..." Who asked that? Do you even remember who it was? You just want to show off that you're seeing someone.
If you're going to flaunt your love, take him outside and do it!
Ji Yuechu, who had been reborn and witnessed from beginning to end the enviable romance everyone talked about, thought to herself:
Bah! Even dogs wouldn't date like this!
Theme: Growing up as a young person.
The author is great, are the next few chapters all sub-CPs? No more Gu Chenyu?
