The Little Mute Keeps Trying to Lure Me In

Cheng Yue has aphasia, and her body has ballooned up like a balloon because of hormone medication.

Fortunately, she doesn't care about that.

But the beautiful woman in the room next door seems unable to accept what happened to her, and looks utterly lifeless.

Cheng Yue is reminded, for no particular reason, of the first time they met.

It was pouring that day, and Su Jin mistook her for someone about to take her own life.

Holding an umbrella, the other woman lowered her pretty fox eyes and offered her a flower she'd picked from somewhere. "Hey, pretty girl, want to come shelter from the rain with me?"

Cheng Yue looked at her. The explanation she was about to give caught in her throat, and she nodded as if in a trance.

She never expected to meet her again in a hospital room.

On another rainy day, Cheng Yue typed out words she'd revised countless times on her phone, then pushed open that door.

A car accident forced Su Jin to have her leg amputated.

She cocooned herself in thick layers, surrounded by darkness.

Until a chubby patient was moved into the room next door. When Su Jin was in too much pain to sleep, the girl foolishly held up her phone. A mechanical voice, utterly unlike her, came from it:

"Hi, want some candy?"

Su Jin refused. She didn't need anyone's pity.

But Cheng Yue stubbornly repeated the offer day after day.

Until one day, she was discharged and never came to visit again.

Su Jin tossed and turned, going through all sorts of trouble before finally finding her. She blocked her path with a crutch and grabbed her fiercely. "I never said I wouldn't accept those toys of yours. What gives you the right to stop coming to see me?"

"You're not allowed to find anyone else!"

Cheng Yue: "...?"
