The Delicate Beauty Marries a Playboy

(Hey everyone, my other book, The General’s Daily Face-Slapping, is now available. Please add it to your library and follow it!) This is a spin-off of the bonus chapters for I Became the Emperor’s Favorite After My Identity Was Exposed. It has been thoroughly revised. The official version is on Jinjiang. Jiang Shu, the Jiang family’s legitimate daughter, is frail and sickly, with a spoiled disposition. Fan Shen, heir to the marquis’s estate, personally came to ask for her hand, thinking that her spoiled nature didn’t matter since she wouldn’t live much longer anyway. The marquis’s heir, Fan Shen, is notorious for being a wastrel who spends money like water. Jiang Shu thinks that marrying such an idiot will mean she’ll never lack for money, and he’ll be easy to handle. Surely life will be comfortable. They ‘love’ each other deeply, and their devotion lasts until death. With the wedding day approaching, they cross paths. One is cruel and ruthless. The other is hale and hearty. Two days before the wedding: Fan Shen said to Madam Fan, “With the snow falling, perhaps we should postpone the wedding...” Madam Fan turned back and smiled at him. “I’ve never seen you care so much about a young lady. Don’t worry, Mother won’t let your darling get cold.” Fan Shen: ... Jiang Shu said to Old Madam Jiang, “With the snow falling, perhaps we should postpone the wedding...” Old Madam Jiang replied impatiently, “What, do you want to go over there today? I’ve never seen anyone so eager...” Jiang Shu: ... On the wedding day: The aunts and matrons shed tears of joy. “At last, these two lovers are together.” Fan Shen and Jiang Shu sat on the bridal bed. “First I dug a pit. Then I buried myself in it.” Before long, they suddenly realized the bottom of the pit was quite warm, and lying there wasn’t so bad. Fan Shen at first: I’m only marrying her so they’ll hang white mourning lanterns. Later, every time he turned around, he found himself instinctively clutching her hand. Later still, when Jiang Shu gave a faint cough at night, Fan Shen got up in the middle of the night and called for a doctor. “My wife has caught a chill.” A ruthless official of the Court of Judicial Review vs. a spoiled beauty who’s no pushover. A marriage-first, love-later story. They’re wary of each other at first, but eventually fall in love together. #The blurb is silly, but the story itself is serious. Coming up next: The Scheming Crown Princess After the Marquis of Shunchang’s estate is confiscated and his title stripped due to his involvement in a bribery case, everyone hopes the beauty who once captivated the capital, Tang Yun, will be forced into a brothel. Half a month later, someone sees a beauty hiding behind the usually self-disciplined Crown Prince in the Eastern Palace. Her face is as lovely as a peach, tears still glistening at the corners of her eyes. Who could it be but Tang Yun? Everyone assumes the Marquis of Shunchang’s family had no other choice but to offer her to the Crown Prince. But no one knows that the night before Tang Yun was to be sent to a brothel, the Crown Prince came to her in person, standing before a cold, bright moon as he asked, “Where are you going?” Tang Yun grabbed his sleeve without a moment’s hesitation. As a child, Tang Yun’s mother raised her disguised as a boy. By a twist of fate, she became sworn brothers with the Crown Prince. After entering the palace, Tang Yun is troubled every day by one question: how can she defile the unbreakable, pure ‘brotherly’ bond between her and the Crown Prince, and take her place as Crown Princess? During the Crown Princess selection, Tang Yun whispered into his ear all night: “I think that Miss Huo is quite scheming...” The Crown Prince: “What do you mean?” Tang Yun: “Oh, you men wouldn’t understand...” The Crown Prince: “In your opinion, who would be most suitable?” Tang Yun: “Your Highness should find someone beautiful, someone you know well...” A little scene: Beyond the red palace walls, a spring breeze stirred. Tang Yun stood before her former sweetheart, head bowed as she complained, “At first, he said he’d be like an older brother to me. Then I don’t know how he got those ideas.” That night, the Crown Prince pushed away her groping hand without mercy. “Let’s get one thing straight. Who was the first to get those ideas?” At first, the Crown Prince was firmly against his ministers’ suggestions: Rabbits don’t eat the grass by their own burrow. I’m going to spend my life alone. No one should even think of becoming Crown Princess. Later, with a sweet beauty in his arms: My beloved, you’re delicious. A scheming beauty who looks delicate but is no pushover vs. a refined Crown Prince who seems gentle as jade but is just as formidable. A sweet romance that begins after marriage. Childhood sweethearts, one-on-one romance Theme: Life has its hardships, but also unexpected delights.
