This is the third installment in the Investiture of the Gods series. The prequels, "My Disciple Is Hongjun" and "The Monster Inn," and the sequel, "Diary of Raising a Little Dragon God," are all complete and available in my collection.
Blurb:
The young Ao Guang was sent by the Heavenly Dao to become the disciple of the ancient deity Taiyi because he carried a divine oracle naming him the Dragon God.
Taiyi seemed kind on the surface, but was actually picky and demanding. When the immortals came to ask about the boy, he dismissed them with: "This little thing? I don't believe he could turn my palace upside down."
Eventually, Ao Guang did more than turn over his bedding and ransack his palace. He also ran back to the deep sea with a visibly rounded belly.
Later, Taiyi was invested as the Eastern Emperor, and all the realms and seas worshipped him. Yet on the very first day of his investiture, he ran to the depths of the Eastern Sea and knocked on the water barrier in front of a crowd of immortals, apologizing as he did so.

Eastern Emperor Taiyi: "It hurts so, so much. And I feel awful that my dragon wife has to raise our baby all alone. It must be so hard!"
Ao Guang, who had been fattened up in the Dragon Palace, listened to the whole thing and casually told his confused son, Ao Bing:

At the critical moment, the "little boy" crown prince, who had been cheering him on just moments earlier, drops the act. In a few moves, he knocks away the sword aimed at Qi Changfeng's vital points, then points it at the assassin leader and runs him through the throat.

A few notes:
1. The gong and shou are both emotionally and physically pure, and each other's first love. The gong pretends to be foolish, while the shou plays dumb to take down his enemies.
2. Logic takes a back seat, and the original settings are extensive.
