The empire's power has fallen into the hands of the military, and the imperial family is in decline.

Everyone in the empire is waiting for the day the marshal stages a rebellion. They believe he'll overthrow the emperor, eliminate the crown prince, and wipe out the entire imperial family.

The marshal accomplishes the first two.
