One-Sentence Summary:
A chuunibyo Western fantasy red dragon who looks down equally on every living thing tries to keep his frail, helpless six-year-old "beautiful wife" alive.
His beautiful wife was given to him by the System from the start.
Supposedly, he's breathtakingly beautiful, innocent and naive, and perfect for raising.
Zhou Tianyu was a naturally arrogant red dragon and didn't believe he needed a mate.
He was planning to kill the child on a whim, but just before he could vaporize him with a single blast of dragon breath, a hand appeared in his field of vision... as plump as a lotus root.
Soft and chubby, slightly timid, it carefully pinched the hem of Zhou Tianyu's clothes.
Zhou Tianyu stiffly lifted his eyes, only to see...
A human child in a prince's outfit and a little crown, tiny and delicate, with exquisite features and baby fat on his cheeks.
His round, almond-shaped eyes were dark and clear. He looked innocent and carefree as he gazed at Zhou Tianyu and pleaded in a small voice.
"Big brother, could you please not hit me?"
"I'm the prince of the Morningwind Kingdom. I'll be useful when I grow up."
"And I only eat a little bit."
This is way too messed up. Is there no law in this high-martial world?
After beating up the System, Zhou Tianyu got his answer.
The human child was named Ji Guanxin. He came from another world, but the System had stolen him after he accidentally wandered into a temporal rift.
The System was called the [Apprenticeship Makes You Stronger System], but was actually the [Building a Harem Makes You Stronger System], and had long served the hot-blooded protagonist.
But Zhou Tianyu's adolescent dragon body possessed terrifying physical strength. In this world, the laws had temporarily suppressed him to the size of a young child, around nine years old.
The System thought Zhou Tianyu really was nine, so it simply rewarded him with the beautiful little prince Ji Guanxin, whom it had stolen, as a child bride.
Once Zhou Tianyu figured out what had happened, he activated the source of his dragon breath and vaporized the System without mercy.
"You've got some nerve, dressing up child trafficking as something wholesome. You think you can fool me just because I'm an adolescent dragon?"
Zhou Tianyu immediately wanted to tear open a spatial passage and send Ji Guanxin home.
But Ji Guanxin was so frightened that he flung himself at Zhou Tianyu, wrapping his little arms tightly around his waist and pressing his head against his chest. He refused to let go.
"Big brother, don't throw me in there."
"I don't want to be smashed into pieces."
"?"
Oh, no. He'd forgotten that an ordinary human body was too fragile to withstand a second trip through space.
What should he do? Obviously, send the child to a human welfare center.
A nine-year-old dragon raising a six-year-old human child as his bride? That was just ridiculous.
But less than ten minutes after Ji Guanxin entered the Federation's public care center...
He fell down and furrowed his little brows, too afraid to say that he was hurt.
When the other children took the jewels from his clothes, he didn't dare speak up.
The specially made Federation nutrition biscuits scraped his throat raw, leaving him unable to eat. He quietly endured his hunger, looking miserable.
When a little boy who wanted to be his friend pinched his cheek until it turned blue, he finally broke down.
So Zhou Tianyu, who had just completed the temporary stay paperwork at the Federation's public care center, was greeted by...
A tearful little doll, limping, his little face red and blue, sobbing so hard he couldn't even make a sound.
The moment the little crybaby saw him, he rushed toward him as if he were his only support.
But he remembered Zhou Tianyu saying earlier that they had nothing to do with each other and he shouldn't follow him anymore.
So the little crybaby stood by the doorway with his head lowered and his lips pursed, tears falling like a broken string of pearls.
The cafeteria was about to be flooded by his tears, but he still obediently didn't dare go in.
"..."
Looking at the little coward's sorry state, Zhou Tianyu thought about how long he'd been gone and flew into a rage.
Could this wimp really survive if he left him here?
But Zhou Tianyu was the one who had brought him here. If the kid was raised to death here, what would that do to his reputation?
With no other choice, Zhou Tianyu reached out and picked the child up.
The moment Ji Guanxin was in his arms, he threw himself against Zhou Tianyu, buried his head in the crook of his neck, and let out a flurry of soft sobs. He didn't even know how to complain.
Zhou Tianyu was so angry he wanted to spank him, but he knew he couldn't expect much from him.
"All right, little prince, stop crying. Come with me and show me who's who. Whoever bullied you, point them out, and I'll get even for you."
Reading Guide:
Even though the child calls Zhou Tianyu "big brother" and they look only three years apart, Zhou Tianyu believes their actual age gap is much larger. The dragon race is a mutated, super-evolved species, and adolescence lasts hundreds of years, with repeated periods of sleep during evolution. So in the early and middle parts of the story, he only raises the little prince as a child.
Have you read those restrained, serious daddy-top or older-brother-top characters on Jinjiang? Zhou Tianyu has nothing to do with them.
He's a battle-loving, male-oriented fantasy dragon, the sort of mischievous young dad who acts like a troublemaking demon king. He's naturally naughty and bullies and teases people on a whim. When he makes someone cry, he gives them presents, takes them out to play, picks them up and tosses them in the air, then lies and swears he'll behave. He'll do it again next time.
