[World War II] Servants Beneath Her Skirts

On the second page of the book, Ludwig slowly read a line beside her ear in his rich, low voice: "People live only in dreams. Only philosophers struggle to awaken."

Ludwig's voice was as low and gentle as ever. The warm and kind image she had built from her heart had kept Veronica company through sixteen long years of darkness.

But on the day Veronica regained her sight, she saw with her own eyes as Ludwig used a gun to kill his most trusted subordinate.

The man's presence was cruel and lifeless. Only his smile retained its usual restraint and gentleness. "Veronica is the only one who won't betray me."

Veronica: What the hell happened to my gentle big brother?
