[Greek Mythology] The Fire of Vanity

On Mount Olympus, Hylpacia, the Earth Goddess's most beloved daughter, had a little mishap while chatting with Eros, the god of love.

She firmly denied the power of love, believing it was merely an excuse mortals made for their own impulses. Without meaning to, she also denied Eros's divine authority.

Petty Eros shot her with a golden arrow before the feast was over, determined to make the Earth Mother's daughter taste the pleasures of love.

Preferably, he would make her suffer the agony of loving someone who would never love her back.

But Eros forgot one thing: Hylpacia, struck by the golden arrow, was still at the banquet.

The first person she saw was Ares, the embodiment of war and slaughter.

Eros: Sorry, that backfired.

The news that Hylpacia had fallen in love with someone under the golden arrow's magic alarmed Asclepius, who dwelt in the mountains and forests. Dionysus announced that he would stop making wine for the time being, and even the kindest Prometheus sneered and shut his doors to visitors.

To resolve Olympus's annual romantic crisis, Zeus ordered Eros, the culprit, to immediately put an end to Hylpacia's one-sided infatuation with Ares.

Looking for an easy fix, Eros decided to ignore Zeus's warning and end this farce with a single lead arrow.

But just as he drew his bow and aimed at Hylpacia, who was deep in love, the god of war grabbed his hand and asked with solemn sincerity:

"Dear Eros, how can I show Hylpacia my love without seeming too forward?"

Eros: ...
