When Lin Hui wakes up, she finds herself a pitiful orphan whose father is dead and whose mother drowned herself. She’s dressed in mourning, living in a bare-walled house, with a little brother who still has a toddler’s topknot clutching his stomach and crying that he’s hungry... It’s the ultimate survival challenge.
At the time, the war has only just ended. The Dayan Dynasty is short on people, and everything needs rebuilding.
To encourage population growth, the county registrar personally comes to her home to arrange a marriage.
For the half-tael silver reward, Lin Hui resolutely swallows her pride and, without a word of hesitation, marries the ill-fated farmer Xiong Haochu from her village, bringing her little brother along as well.
Wait, wasn’t he supposed to be a farmer?
In the first half of his life, Xiong Haochu risked his life for the imperial court, protecting the people and keeping them safe. In the end, he was discarded once his usefulness was over and died far from home.
Given another chance, he decisively lays down his arms and returns to farming.
He’ll clear land, build a house, marry a wife, have children, and live a pastoral life...
Wait, wasn’t this supposed to be a pastoral life?

"Overacted"
Blurb:
Xu Yunwei, an actress from a tiny studio, finally lands a big-budget production, acting alongside the award-winning star Yan Huaisheng, who made his debut three years ago. She plays... the fifth female role: the male lead’s spoiled younger sister.
To get on good terms with the actor, Xu Yunwei calls him “big brother” this and “big brother” that all day on set, acting sweeter than sugar.
Everyone thinks she’s just naturally sweet.
Xu Yunwei: “I take acting seriously!”
On the third day of filming, an accident delays production. As soon as Xu Yunwei gets her phone back, she ducks into a corner and quickly returns a missed call.
“Is that idiot from Sunset River online yet? No? Is he scared? Fine, I’ll be online in half an hour!”
She hangs up, turns around, and sees the actor standing a few steps away, phone in hand.
He didn’t hear her swearing, did he?
Xu Yunwei quickly puts on a sweet smile. “Hi, big brother. I have something to take care of, so I’ll be going. Bye, big brother.”
Then she makes a quick getaway.
Yan Huaisheng holds his phone and calmly replies over the shouting from the other end, “I’ll be online in half an hour.”
Xu Yunwei, huh?
Interesting.

This is the second book I've finished reading in its entirety! Even though it is a farming article, it is still interesting to read.
It's pretty good. If I can't give it five stars, I won't give it a rating. Five?
Ah ah ah, this ended too suddenly.
This ending... Is too sudden...
