The Reaper Strikes It Rich After Slacking Off in the Entertainment Industry

“How about we go for a drink in my car after filming wraps?”

Lin Mei, a universally disliked, barely-known starlet, openly hit on the award-winning actor on the show.

After he turned her down in front of everyone, Lin Mei sighed. What a pity.

Onlookers started mocking her in small groups, saying she was desperate to become famous.

That night, a news story flooded the trending lists across social media.

The award-winning actor Jiang He had been in a traffic accident that evening and died at the scene.

Ling Mei, a soul-reaper, was punished for revealing secrets of heaven and forced to remain in the mortal world.

Left with a terrible hand after the original owner had thoroughly ruined things, Ling Mei decided to coast through life in the entertainment industry.

Hah, what good is this glamorous but superficial body?

Her identity as a soul-reaper is her unique advantage. Why worry about making a fortune?

Then she wouldn't have to go back and put up with the old King of Hell and that stone-faced nemesis.

A strange rumor began spreading through the entertainment industry: Lin Mei seemed to be conducting some mysterious, unspeakable business.

She doesn't ask about the past or predict the future. She only communicates with the realms of the living and the dead, and helps people express their grief.

For a time, wealthy businessmen, powerful officials, and top-tier stars spent lavishly just to have Lin Mei take a look.

“Your grandma says she received the bed you sent over. Now she doesn't have to share one with your late grandpa.”

“I asked your father for you. Even after drinking Meng Po's soup, he forgot the password to the family safe.”

“Your mother asked me to tell you that she left a gift for you and your sibling in a Swiss bank.”

“This bow was handed to me by the little girl who keeps appearing in your dreams and won't leave.”

“...”

When it came to choosing clients, Lin Mei always followed the principle that looks were justice.

After yet another young heartthrob fled in terror, Lin Mei finally snapped.

“We're just colleagues, helping each other out. Fine, from now on, you can take seventy percent of the commission!”

“Hah, colleagues?”

A dark shadow in the corner of the room let out a low scoff, then vanished.

A month later, a superstar returning from overseas appeared out of nowhere and tossed a check for ten million in front of her.

“What do you want to ask?”

“About my marriage prospects.”

“Unfortunately, your fate holds no wife for you.”

“Even if you're angry with me, there's no need to curse yourself like that.”
