Yellow Skin

[Folk customs and the supernatural, with a touch of Chinese-style cosmic horror.]

When Du Huan was eighteen, his hometown was demolished.

With nowhere else to go, he took what little compensation money he had and headed to the city to stay with his great-uncle.

His great-uncle found him a job sweeping a courtyard in a narrow alley behind Panjiayuan.

For some reason, ash from burnt paper kept appearing there in the middle of the night. He would sweep one spot, only for another to appear, as if someone were deliberately making trouble for him. He often ended up working until well past midnight.

He didn't complain.

Not because he loved working, but because he wanted to stay in the courtyard a little longer.

If he lingered, he could see the window of the small room open at dawn. A young man, supposedly hired to clean some antiques, would lean halfway out and call him over. Then, with a face as beautiful as a vengeful ghost's, he would crush a cigarette into Du Huan's palm.

The ember seared his skin, and set his blood and bones ablaze with desire.

He had never met anyone like him.

Someone so... suited to dying in his bed.

(For details on the couple's dynamic, see the main text. The author's summaries never quite get it right, orz.)

*There is a reason behind the scene in the blurb where the uke burns the seme with a cigarette. This novel contains metaphysical elements, so please don't judge it by ordinary standards. Neither the seme nor the uke is exactly normal, but it all exists only in fiction, so read at your own discretion.

*There may be some unhealthy kinks and a touch of Chinese-style cosmic horror.

[Reader's Guide]

1. Seme's point of view, 1v1, happy ending, mutually doting. Set in an alternate modern world, with folk customs and metaphysics. The style may feel a little old-fashioned. Everything is made up by the author.

2. Anyone with extreme preferences, including but not limited to fans of any particular character role, please stay away. This may not suit your tastes or meet your expectations, so please don't label the characters. Everything serves the story. The seme loves the uke, and the uke loves the seme. They both give their all without keeping score. The couple's roles will not be reversed or broken up, so please don't make inappropriate comments. If it's not to your taste, leave promptly. Let's keep things harmonious and healthy for everyone.

3. Neither the seme nor the uke is perfect; both have flaws. If you don't like that, please click the X. No ranking checks, reposting, or adaptations.

4. This blurb was finalized on 2025.7.18, and a screenshot has been saved as evidence. Anyone who plagiarizes or borrows from it will choke on water, be doomed to flop forever, and never get a good ranking.
