After struggling for three years with the civil service exams open to all majors, history graduate Shen Tang finally landed a stable government job.

Only the position wasn't quite what she'd imagined

Workplace: the Netherworld.

Duties: The emperors of the Netherworld are waiting to be reincarnated, and you're in charge of arranging it.

Looking at the emperors playing mahjong and Dou Dizhu,

Shen Tang started to panic.

Meng Po: “A monthly salary of a hundred thousand, plus performance bonuses...”

Shen Tang: “I'll arrange their reincarnation right now!”

One day, the emperors who had been sent to reincarnate returned to the underworld to visit.

Wu Zetian: “Xiao Shen, you've done good work. I finally became an empress, after all those years as a princess.”

Li Shimin: “I don't have the Twenty-Four Meritorious Officials of the Lingyan Pavilion, but Marshal Yue and the others can fight well enough. I plan to go fishing in the North Sea in a while.”

Zhu Di: “That grandson Zhu Qizhen wants to usurp my throne? He should take a look at the eighteen streets of Yanjing and ask around to find out who's his daddy!”

Only Qianlong was gloomy. “Shen Tang did that on purpose, didn't she? I spend every day restoring cultural relics, especially calligraphy and paintings. Which bastard put all those seals on them?!”

The emperors: “...” What do you think?

About the First Emperor...

Ying Zheng: “Why do I only appear in the title and the main character list?”

Shen Tang: “Your Qin dynasty fell. The other emperors are crowdfunding to get you a part.”

Reader's Guide:

1. Inspired by a discussion on a forum.

2. An alternate world, not historically accurate, with a small amount of modern-day content.

3. Lots of author-created details, so don't expect rigorous historical accuracy. If that's an issue, feel free to find something else to read.

4. The female lead is like a camera and has no romantic pairing. The supporting characters might end up in some unusual pairings.

5. An alternative interpretation: the host, the female lead, takes several guests, the ghost emperors, to watch and commentate on a competition, the livestream of the emperors' lives after reincarnation.

6. There's a typo on the cover. I don't want to ask the cover artist to fix it again, so please bear with it for now.

7. I'm not especially interested in the Qing dynasty. I only included Qianlong as a joke.
