Synopsis

An aside: I originally planned to start writing this after Zheng Zheng made her comeback and won her first title, as a way to give myself a little pressure.

Well, would you look at that. She won a title so quickly, and it was a WTA 1000 event, too. My bad. Zheng Zheng is awesome, and I'm just a little nobody. I'll start writing in 2027. As for the exact date, once I finish the novel I'm working on, I'll get to this one.

Also, [the blurb is provisional and may still need a few tweaks].

Cheng Sa is reborn at seventeen, the year she won the Australian Open girls' singles title,

completing a junior career Grand Slam.

That year, her parents had not yet been in a car accident and left in a vegetative state.

Cheng Sa had not lost her right leg, either, becoming an eternal mystery in Chinese tennis:

If Cheng Sa hadn't quit tennis after the accident, could she have won a Grand Slam? How many could she have won?

When Cheng Sa first entered the main draw of a Grand Slam, almost nobody believed in her.

After turning pro at sixteen, she played eight ITF events and lost in the first round of six. After seven consecutive losses, she went back to the junior circuit to bully kids.

And after completing her career Grand Slam, she'd spent nearly half a year recovering from an injury. So what if she'd gotten a lucky wildcard into Wimbledon's qualifying draw?

Fans: "If she makes the main draw, you can use my head as a ball."

Cheng Sa made it, and even reached the final.

Fans: "Change of plans, Cheng Sa's going to win? I don't believe it unless she shows me the trophy."

Cheng Sa won.

Fans: "Wimbledon has always been a breeding ground for upsets. That was a fluke. Let's see you win another one."

Cheng Sa won another.

Fans: "Let's see you become world number one!"

Cheng Sa: She remained far ahead at the top of the WTA year-end rankings.

Fans: "Let's see you win the Golden Slam in a single year!"

Cheng Sa: Not impossible.

Fans: "Let's see you never retire. I'm begging you..."

Cheng Sa: That one really is impossible.
