Bad Kids

My childhood friend was a bad kid.

.

At first, Fu Chaoyue and I were friends, more or less.

We'd share a Xinhua Dictionary in class, run all over the sports field together during gym, and play hide-and-seek, where he'd cover for me and end up getting caught himself. That kind of friend.

In fourth grade, some of the mischievous boys in class started craving attention. They learned from movies to bully the weak and form cliques, thinking it made them cool, when their behavior was both childish and cruel.

For some ridiculous reason, I became one of the kids they picked on and isolated. Every so often, they'd drag me out and mock me, just to shore up their so-called self-esteem and status in class.

And Fu Chaoyue sided with the bad kids.

By the second half of fifth grade, I was gradually becoming withdrawn. Luckily, my parents' jobs changed, so we moved and I transferred schools. Those days of bullying became what people later called my childhood trauma.

For a long time, I never saw any of those people again.

So why did Fu Chaoyue die a few years later?

Let's start over. I hope you're not a bad kid this time.

First-person, bottom's POV.

A sunny, devoted top. There was more to the bullying in the past life, and the top was always trying to protect the bottom. I want to write about a gentle, healing school romance, beginning with an innocent childhood promise to protect each other, and taking every day seriously.

Never let down the people you love.
