Snowfall on a Spring Night

* Mutual pining / childhood sweethearts

Xuan Ning hates snowy days.

And even more than snowy days, she can't stand that nuisance, Tan Xuesheng.

They grew up together as childhood friends.

But Tan Xuesheng is everyone's beloved "other people's child," a "world-class skiing champion," and a "top student at Huada University."

She's an "antisocial freak," a "bookworm," and a "useless shut-in."

He's dazzling and succeeds at everything, while she is forever stuck in his shadow.

On the day Tan Xuesheng won the World Championships, she was still secretly cursing him to fall from his pedestal amid the roaring cheers.

-

Xuan Ning thought they'd spend their whole lives despising each other, never to make peace.

She never imagined

that she'd spend her eighteenth birthday in Tan Xuesheng's bed.

All the insincere "I hate you"s she'd repeated again and again shattered in the face of his faint smile that night.

"You hate me?" The man's eyes curved into a smile as he forcefully kissed her. "Then put up with it."

-

Tan Xuesheng had known since childhood just how different Xuan Ning was from what she appeared to be.

Every time she sweetly called him "Brother A Xue," her eyes were full of malice she couldn't hide.

In her writing, he was always the villain who met a gruesome end.

And yet, though she hated him so much, her eyes reddened in an instant when he was hurt.

Maybe even she didn't know that she truly hated him and envied him, but she also truly loved him.

-

Love is the hardest secret in the world to keep.

Even after telling a lie ten thousand times, you still can't fool yourself.
