The Republic's Entertainment Mogul

Attorney Xie dies unexpectedly, only to open his eyes and find himself a pitiful child in an opera troupe a century ago. He knows nothing of his parents, his background is a mystery, and the only person he can question, his beautiful master, speaks in riddles. Looking at the scarred landscape of China before him, Xie Yan pats his chin. He cannot find a single copper coin on himself, but he has a grand ambition. As everyone knows, a businessman who doesn't want to be a writer isn't a good lawyer: Guan Gong battles Qin Qiong, Nezha hacks at Fahai; The Dragon King falls for the Jade Emperor, and the Immortal Alliance saves the world; Movie voting meet-and-greets send Chinese IPs worldwide; Before he knows it, Xie Yan has become the most celebrated novelist in this parallel world, the wealthiest and most powerful entertainment mogul, and the founder and honorary president of the best law school. On top of all that, he has gained a new identity that the public loves to gossip about: the second young madam of the ship magnate Wen family. “Yes, we're married. Do we need to hold a press conference?” Xie Yan waves the newspaper in his hand at the reporters. “Or perhaps you should read my new book, On the Relationship Between Marriage and Society, first?” As an elite lawyer, he'd rather win people over with reason. If that doesn't work... there's always the saying, “Money means I can do whatever I want.” Republican-era story, two strong leads, entirely fictional, with no real-life models. The Top-Ranked Scholar's Competitive Little Husband by Yun Yishi: Find a husband and get him to pass the imperial exams! Qiu Huainian, known as “the biggest try-hard in the lifestyle section,” wakes up in the body of a young man in ancient times. His father doesn't care for him, his stepmother despises him, and during a famine, he's traded to the Du family in the neighboring village for two dou of sorghum to become their young master's child bride. When he wakes, all that's left in the house is three thatched cottages, two hens, and the Du family's younger siblings, thin as sticks. The village is abuzz with rumors that the Du family's eldest son, his convenient husband whom he's never met, has ruined his prospects and is about to return home to live off his wife. Plenty of people are waiting to see the spectacle. Looking at Du Jiasong's handsome, noble face, like that of a little dragon prince, Qiu Huainian's heart suddenly pounds. He rolls up his sleeves and says casually, “It's fine. I'll provide for him.” * Du Yunse was hailed as a prodigy at ten and became the student of a renowned scholar of his age. He spent years traveling and studying away from home. The court was full of intrigue, and when his teacher was imprisoned, Du Yunse had no choice but to return to his village and lie low. Worried about his deceased parents, his young siblings, and the little child husband he had never met, Du Yunse returns home with a heavy heart. But when he arrives in the village, he finds a tidy courtyard, lively and healthy younger siblings, and a beautiful little husband whom everyone praises as if he were a painting. The little husband smiles at him with bright eyes and earnestly reminds him: “Don't skimp on paper when you practice calligraphy, use an oil lamp when you read, and eat meat every day.” “I'm investing in you, so when you place first in the imperial exams, you have to treat me well.” Du Yunse's heart melts. He takes the little husband's slender, lovely hand. “All right. I'll pass the top scholar's exam for you, Hua-ge'er.” * Making sorghum candy, fermenting tofu, planting cotton, buying a mule... The Du family's life gets better and better, and they become the envy of the whole village. When the official bearing the good news steps into the courtyard, Du Yunse is drying Qiu Huainian's hair. Some say Qiu Huainian's heart isn't entirely with Du Yunse. The noble young man, as elegant as a jade tree, merely smiles. “A pearl chooses its owner. That's only right. I'll prove that I'm the one worthy of him.” 1. Farming story, male pregnancy genre, with childbirth later in the story. 2.
