[The Phantom of the Opera] Reflection

The original novel timeline runs parallel to the Weber musical timeline. Inspiration: 1. In the original novel, the Phantom has blond hair; in the musical, he has brown hair. Yet in the musical, Meg is blond. 2. In my bestie's fic on the same theme, The Angel of Music, from The Phantom of the Opera, Little D asks the Phantom, “Who is your Angel of Music?” 3. Many white children have blond hair when they are young, but it gradually turns brown as they get older. 4. In Love Never Dies (let's just pretend it's really a sequel), Meg has an unrequited love for the Phantom, while Christine is clear about her feelings and loves him. (And the movie version of The Phantom of the Opera has plenty of chemistry between the Phantom and Raoul.) 5. I like the Phantom in the original novel and Meg in the musical (including in Love Never Dies), and I personally think musical Meg (including during her time at the opera house) has a flexible moral compass. So I had a sudden idea: What if the Phantom and Meg from the musical switched identities when they were very young, and the Phantom from the original novel and Meg from the musical switched souls whenever certain conditions were met, such as the Phantom singing a big number or enough candles being lit? Planned pairings: Musical Meg x original-novel Phantom; original-novel Christine x musical Phantom
