The Ruler Above, the Minister Below [Reborn]

New story: “After Being Possessed, My Reputation Was Ruined”

Blurb:

General Liang Jian holds power over the court, and officials both civil and military have submitted memorials impeaching him.

The Ministry of War accuses him of controlling most of the military’s forces and acting without restraint. The emperor’s reply: I spoil him. I’ve given him the rest of the army, too.

The Ministry of Revenue accuses him of blocking the selection of consorts and preventing the imperial harem from growing, calling his intentions treasonous. The emperor’s reply: He’s jealous. Don’t cause trouble for me.

The Ministry of Rites accuses him of spending the night in the palace and living in Fengqi Palace, against proper protocol. The emperor’s reply: I’ve already had him move into Kunqian Palace to live with me.

The Ministry of Personnel accuses him of using his looks to curry favor with the ruler and bringing ruin to the nation. The emperor’s reply: The general is as handsome as Pan An, and I’m very fond of him. That’s a poor way to compliment him. Rewrite it.

The officials sighed toward the heavens. “The emperor is enthralled by beauty. Our dynasty is doomed.”

Mei Zhenghan: “The general won this realm for me as my dowry. All I asked was for you to draft the wedding arrangements, and you’ve got an awful lot to say.”

Liang Jian: “It’s the bride price. I’m marrying you.”

“After Being Possessed, My Reputation Was Ruined”

Shen Zhuo of the Shen family was a once-in-a-generation prodigy, raised with great expectations. But when he was fourteen, someone possessed his body. By the time he finally reclaimed it after a decade of struggle, he had gone from a celebrated genius to a disgraced failure.

The once-glorious Shen family had fallen into ruin, and his master, Ling Shuangxue, had expelled him from the sect. His cultivation was still where it had been ten years ago. All of this had happened because the person who replaced him wanted to clear the way for the so-called protagonist and turn him into a tool.

Shen Zhuo didn’t despair at the mess before him. He could cultivate again, and the Shen family could rise again. But first, he urgently needed the protection of his master, Ling Shuangxue.

The originally hard-hearted Ling Shuangxue seemed like a different person once he spoke. Not only did she take back her earlier words, she also protected him, stood up for him at every turn, and patiently taught him.

Three months later, the genius shone again.

Shen Zhuo: “Being a failure was just something I tried for fun. Unlike everyone here, you’re all serious about it.”

Everyone looked at Ling Shuangxue, silently sipping tea behind Shen Zhuo, and thought, “Pah! Shameless!”
