Live Fortune-Telling: Ascending Online

To overcome his kinship tribulation and ascend smoothly, Shen Zhilan was kicked down the mountain by his master to search for his family.

Prices in the world below had soared, and he’d also picked up a down-on-his-luck little god. Feeding two mouths by himself, he was soon flat broke.

To earn money for his search, Shen Zhilan went back to his old trade: live-streaming fortune-telling. Two thousand yuan per reading, three readings a day, with no favoritism between young and old.

People in the livestream mocked him for being so desperate for money. He could just rob them outright, so why bother with the pretense?

An explorer streamer who claimed to be an atheist came on to expose Shen Zhilan for the fraud he was.

Shen Zhilan glanced at him. “You’ve been having nightmares lately. On one of your expeditions, you took something you shouldn’t have. Its owner has come looking for you.”

The viewers burst into laughter, but the explorer streamer dropped to his knees on the spot. “Master, save me!”

A wealthy young woman, soon to be engaged, was torn because her parents opposed the match. She asked Shen Zhilan whether she should stand her ground.

Shen Zhilan: “Listen to your parents and run, now. This man’s marrying you for money. If you don’t believe me, go catch him in the act at Room 1023 of the XX Hotel right now.”

The young woman wasted no time, and some viewers piled on by helping her catch her boyfriend in bed with his lover at the hotel.

Eventually, people stopped mocking Shen Zhilan for being desperate for money. Instead, they asked if he could be a little more eager to take their money, because three readings a day simply wasn’t enough.

Shen Zhilan found his birth parents through his livestream, but someone else had already taken his place as the youngest child in the family. His parents thought his fortune-telling was a scam and refused to acknowledge him, offering him money to go away instead.

The little god had been about to offer a few words of comfort, but Shen Zhilan didn’t care. He turned on his livestream and announced, “My ties of kinship are settled. It’s time to let the world witness a miracle. My tribulation happens today!”
