A Quiet Longing

[Sorry, it's been so long that I've run out of inspiration to fill this in. This is a massive, decade-long pitfall. Enter at your own risk!!!]

In the first year of Jiayou, Xue Lin, Marquis of Zhenbei, died.

In the twelfth year of Jiayou, Emperor Chen of the Da Li dynasty changed the era name to Jinghe.

Rumors circulated in court and throughout the land.

Emperor Chen of Da Li was said to prefer men.

And Xue Lin, Marquis of Zhenbei, had Jinghe as his courtesy name.

Emperor Chen of Da Li never married.

During his reign, he was diligent and incorruptible.

The histories praised his accomplishments without exception.

There was just one thing worth criticizing:

Before his death, Emperor Chen issued an imperial decree

ordering Xue Lin to be dug up from his ancestral grave and buried with him.

#The one who once loved me more than life now avoids me like the plague# #Only after being reborn did I realize what an idiot I'd been in my last life# #What if he doesn't like me anymore?# #A loyal dog's guide to self-cultivation#

[A scheming, devoted top x a sickly bottom with formidable martial prowess]

◆ Includes flashbacks

◆ One-on-one romance, happy ending, a little angst early on

◆ The protagonist's name has been changed

Content warnings:

① The top may have been awful enough in his previous life to make you vomit blood. The bottom acts like a masochist early on (not really!)

② The story is told mainly from the top's perspective. The top is the one who is reborn, though there may be some chapters from the bottom's perspective.

③ No personal attacks, please. If it's not for you, don't read it. Click the X in the top right. Thank you for cooperating.

④ It's been too long since I updated, and I've run out of inspiration to fill this in.
