Becoming a Constable in Ancient Times

The law-abiding fret all day, while bullies sing all night. Those who profit at others' expense ride horses and mules, while the honest and fair go hungry. Those who build bridges and roads go blind, while those who kill and set fires have many children. I went west to ask Buddha, and Buddha said, "I can't do anything either." (A comic interlude poem, borrowed for this occasion.) There was once a rascal who woke up in the Yu Dynasty, a place he'd never seen in any book. He became a scholarly... young man who couldn't tell his limbs from his grains. His father had just died, leaving him with a widowed mother who couldn't get anything done, and an even more useless, timid older sister. What could a rascal do? He was a rascal, after all. He knew nothing about glass or cement, and the Four Books and Five Classics were a complete mystery to him. He meant to keep living like a rascal, but then a benefactor came along to help. Being a constable was a steady job, after all. Late one night, the benefactor asked, "What do you want to do?" The rascal replied, "Great minds think alike! Of course I want to!" =.= The benefactor isn't all that important, really. He's just a junior constable, so this book could also be called The Divine Constable and His Partner (not really!!!) Rascal, scheming gong VS fake-proper, reserved shou. My dears!! This story will go VIP tomorrow!!! Theme:
