A Ridiculous Dream at Dawn [BL]

Ten years ago, Qian Si, the right-hand guardian of the Phoenix Clan, rescued Ji Yuan, the young heir of the Ji family, after he fell into the water by the Huaiyue River. Wary of the Ji family's influence, Qian Si didn't want to give his real name, so he used the name of the Phoenix Clan leader, Qu Huaijin, instead. Little did he know that Ji Yuan would fall madly in love with Qu Huaijin because of those words, give everything for him, and eventually become his lover.

Sadly, fate had other plans. As the foremost of the phoenixes, Qu Huaijin represents the most impartial family of enforcers. But Ji Yuan's sister, Empress Ji Tao, committed an unforgivable crime in the celestial realm and was sentenced to death by phoenix fire. To clear the name of the wrongly accused, Qu Huaijin insisted on carrying out Ji Tao's execution himself, and held fast to his sense of justice even when Ji Yuan tried to storm the execution site. Though Ji Yuan could forgive Qu Huaijin in the name of justice, how could he continue this ill-fated relationship with him? And Qu Huaijin, having accepted the Phoenix family's sacred medicine, Phoenix Blood's Return, to treat Ji Yuan without a trace of guilt, had no choice but to confess that the one who rescued Ji Yuan ten years ago was his right-hand guardian, Qian Si, not him. He had only gotten together with Ji Yuan because Ji Yuan looked like his former fiancée, Ji Tao...

Is this relationship too fragile to go on, or does love make everything else matter little?

Ji Yuan said:

With a cold flame in my heart, I conceal my edge; my fiery might shakes the four corners of the world, a phoenix soaring through the nine heavens. I weigh all things upon the celestial ruler in my heart.

For two years, immortal and mortal, we shared the moon over Huaiyue, beside the clear stream, in plain robes, turning mud and tiles into golden walls. Only at daybreak did I see how foolish the dream had been.

But Qu Huaijin corrected him:

“What does it matter if this dream is foolish?”
