[Captain America/Avengers] The Origin

Steve Rogers tries to change history so Bucky Barnes can be spared the pain and torture he once endured at the hands of Hydra. In the end, Steve returns to the starting point, but his efforts have not been in vain. He believes that he will eventually bring Bucky back, and that kind, strong Bucky won't remain for long in the world that hurt him.

The pairings include Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes, also known as Captain America/Winter Soldier, Cap/Winter Soldier, or Stucky, among other names. If you also want to count the Science Bros (Bruce Banner/Tony Stark) as a secondary pairing, I don't object, but no other pairings are mentioned.

This is more or less based on the Marvel Universe, mainly the movies. But if any details contradict any part of Marvel, including the comics, animation, and movies, treat it as an AU.

If the timeline doesn't pick up from the end of Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, then I probably set it in some inexplicable parallel universe whose location I don't even know.

The idea came from the Marvel animated movie Ultimate Avengers. In that movie, Barnes doesn't fall from the train. He remains alive after Captain America is frozen in the Arctic Ocean, gets married and has children, and is already an old man when he sees Captain America again. But this story won't go that way.
