Protagonist: “...” And so they end up doing everything they can to be good to each other, becoming so considerate it's almost outrageous. The people watching can only say, “Here, have some dog food.” The protagonist breaks down: “You mustn't treat me too well! You can only accept my kindness! And if you do something nice for me, it can't be more than what I do for you!” The top hears those convoluted words and interprets them as: I like you so much, much more than you like me!
