Unorthodox Palace Intrigue

As a man, turning into a woman is every man’s worst nightmare. Being transmigrated from a man surrounded by beautiful women into one of an emperor’s consorts is an even worse nightmare. But life is what you make of it. Looking back, maybe it wasn’t so bad after all. Si Xuan thought that among the three thousand beauties of the harem, there was no one more special than Shen Jingshu. He was lucky to have her by his side. As emperor, the only thing he could do for his darling was keep promoting her to higher ranks. A year later. The emperor watched as a beauty he had brought back from his travels, blushing coyly, threw herself into the arms of Shen Jingshu, who had just been promoted to Concubine. Several years later. The emperor was strolling in the imperial garden when he happened upon his own Noble Consort. A whole crowd of beautiful women followed both of them. Several more years later. “Lady Chen, His Majesty and the Empress both selected your name card. Which of them would you like to visit?” Emperor: Wait, why does something feel wrong? Chief Eunuch: Your Majesty, forgive this old servant for speaking out of turn, but please put your mind at ease. Her Majesty the Empress is, after all, a woman. She can’t outdo you. Read before starting: 1. The protagonist is a man who becomes a woman. Please proceed with caution if this bothers you. 2. The emperor loves the female lead (male protagonist), but she remains straight throughout and never falls for him. As a result, this story could be considered to include romance, danmei, and baihe. Readers who prefer just one genre should proceed with caution. 3. The emperor is a typical ancient emperor. He loves the female lead but continues to have other women. Please proceed with caution if this bothers you. 4. This story also has proper palace intrigue. 5. Set in an alternate history. Readers who care about historical accuracy should proceed with caution. 6. The characters may be a little lacking in moral integrity. Please proceed with caution if you’re looking for a story about faithful, lifelong love. 7. This story was an idea I had several years ago. I indulged myself and wrote it during pregnancy, so just have a laugh and don’t worry about the details. 8. This story is very, very different from The Promotion Record of a Crown Princess. 9. It includes a tiny bit of Western fantasy. 10. What else? This is my first proper historical romance, and I don’t know what parts might be deal-breakers for readers who often read historical romance. I’ll add more later. This story will be exclusively published on Jinjiang Literature City beginning September 8. It has not been authorized for publication on any other site or forum.
