[HP Draco] Arrogance

Nika once copied a passage into a letter to Draco. The handwriting was rounded and delicate. Just looking at it, you could picture her standing there and saying those words, with the helplessness of accepting the truth, a calm tone, and joy subtly showing through. This is what she wrote: I never had any illusions about you. I know you're stupid, frivolous, and empty-headed, yet I love you. I know your ambitions and ideals. You're selfish and vulgar, yet I love you. I know you're a second-rate specimen, yet I love you. In his twilight years, Draco read those letters again. At the time, Nika was still sitting in the courtyard, reclining in a gently rocking chair, sunlight falling across her skirt. It was peaceful and serene. He walked over and cupped her face. Then he complained with great indignation, "How am I second-rate?" I'm a Harry Potter movie fan, and I just love the Draco brought to life by Tom Felton. Some dialogue in the story is taken from the movies. I won't abandon this story. It has a happy ending. The passage Nika copied in the blurb comes from W. Somerset Maugham's The Painted Veil.
