Lu Xiujin was taught the Four Books and Five Classics from a young age, and learned the way of a gentleman. Every day, he wore a long robe and carried a folding fan.

He originally thought there was nothing wrong with obeying his parents' wishes and marrying a woman from an equal family.

Then he met Li Zhen, a noisy woman with none of the grace of a proper young lady. She was always provoking him.

Making him anxious, angry, and coughing so hard he could barely catch his breath.

The first time Li Zhen saw Lu Xiujin, she thought he was boring. He was a handsome young man, but every day he acted like an old man, with a serious face and no expression.
