Smiling at the World

In this world, who can stand against me?!

Ning Xuan is the most illustrious noble in Dafeng. His mother is Dafeng's Grand Princess, the elder sister of Emperor Jing'an, and his father is the current prime minister. He was made a marquis at birth and granted a mansion at the age of twelve, enjoying an unparalleled degree of imperial favor. A phoenix among men, he rides in fine clothes and fine horses, surrounded by luxury. He is brilliant and calculating, able to turn the clouds and summon the rain in Anjing. All the young nobles of his generation fear and respect him. Yet none of them know that all he cares about is the realm and Gu Jin.

A promise to you, and I will follow you through life and death!

Gu Jin was born into an official family, but his father was upright and incorruptible, and so their family was destroyed by the schemes of villains. While fleeing, Gu Jin was rescued by Ning Xuan, who was out hunting, and became Ning Xuan's trusted shadow guard. He intends to use Ning Xuan's power to avenge his family. Ning Xuan promises to clear the Gu family's name. Grateful, Gu Jin vows to serve him unto death, but as they spend time together, he gradually comes to understand Ning Xuan's true nature. The Anjing Marquis, who seems mercurial and ruthless to outsiders, is in truth a man of great principle and deep devotion.
