Beauty in the Sleeve

[Everyone, this novel has been published and is now available. It was published by Meili Culture. For details, see Weibo: Jinjiang author Hanshu. Thanks for following! 0v0] Blurb 1: Everyone in the palace knows Auntie Huaixiu. Though still young, she has risen to the high position of Director of the Palace Women's Bureau and serves as a model for all female officials. The four consorts and nine concubines all show her respect. No one knows that the new emperor gave her the name “Huaixiu” when he was a boy, as they lay together on his bed. He meant to keep her tucked against his chest, hidden in his sleeve, and by his side at all times. Only she knows how wanton this gentle, courteous, and well-mannered ruler can be in private. She keeps telling herself to endure it a little longer. Just a little longer, and she can leave the palace, retire, and stop serving this scoundrel of an emperor. But while she endures, the new emperor wants to promote her and transfer her to a new position. He insists she become his empress. No need for that. I’m off. Blurb 2: Huaixiu knows that to His Majesty the Emperor, she is nothing but an insignificant plaything. She was born into humble circumstances, with no family, no connections, and no support. She cannot compare with the noble ladies of prestigious families. She has been with Xiao Rui for more than ten years, and has always known perfectly well that he thinks her lowborn and vulgar. In his eyes, she is just a convenient tool. As she fakes her death and leaves, she smiles at Xiao Rui and says, “Yes, you are the most exalted person in the world. This lowly concubine is beneath you. I have nothing, save this heart, and I truly do not wish to give it to you. You possess an empire and all under heaven, and countless people love you. Surely you can do without my heart.” Content warnings: 1. This is a melodramatic story, not a sweet romance or a power fantasy. 2. The male lead is a tyrant emperor and a terrible scumbag. He has a harem and has been with other women. Readers who require an untouched male lead, proceed with caution. The male lead will not change. They are a pair of embittered lovers. 3. This is my first attempt at historical romance. There are many flaws, so please be kind. Theme: Encouraging women to respect and love themselves, become independent and strong, and strive for an equal and respectful love.
