The Substitute Top Is Obsessed with Research

Story blurb: He Lian Xiuming is a leading researcher in communications, an ascetic who has kept his identity hidden for over a decade. Just one last step remained to complete his grand design, and then he transmigrated! Unacceptable! He wakes up as an exceptionally handsome but dirt-poor college student. Majoring in underwear design, no less. He Lian Xiuming: "..." ??? 5G research hasn't even started yet. People still browse the internet at a snail's pace on 2G, and foreign countries have the chip industry in a chokehold. Everything is waiting to be rebuilt. But his degree can't prove what he knows, he has no work to show for himself, and he's still a student majoring in underwear design... That's when his troublemaking roommate, Yan Yueheng, makes him an offer: "I can help you build a lab and pay you a salary. All you have to do is sign a contract, be my boyfriend on paper, and do as I say." The contract term: one year. A year later, He Lian Xiuming has made a name for himself. Yan Yueheng, who wants to make their relationship official, starts to panic. * Duan Xiuzhou is He Lian Xiuming's paternal half-brother and the male lead of a male-oriented novel. Unlike his younger brother, who was left behind in the countryside, he was taken abroad by their wealthy father and carefully groomed from childhood, steeped in Western ways. According to the original story, Yan Yueheng is his devoted gay admirer. He seems cold and aloof, but secretly loves him and keeps giving him money and connections. When Yan Yueheng is caught keeping a stand-in, Duan Xiuzhou scorns and berates him. Feeling even guiltier, Yan Yueheng sells all his company shares and pours everything he has into helping Duan Xiuzhou expand his market and overcome his difficulties! As soon as Duan Xiuzhou returns to the country, he asks Yan Yueheng for money and connections, just like in the book. Yan Yueheng is fair-skinned and handsome, and lowering himself to chat with a gay man like that to get some resources doesn't seem so bad. But when they meet again, Yan Yueheng turns out to be completely different from what Duan Xiuzhou remembers. His muscular fist could take on three Duan Xiuzhous, and he even turns him down, showing off just a little: "Oh, He Lian Xiuming handles all the company's investments now. Your project is from a foreign company, a competitor of his. He won't approve the investment." Duan Xiuzhou: ??? Wasn't his younger brother in the book an unloved, shabby stand-in? Wasn't Yan Yueheng supposed to be cold toward everyone? How could he act so sweet? Yan Yueheng sighs again. "We shouldn't meet or contact each other anymore. You look a little like a budget version of him. If he finds out, he'll get mad, and I might, just might, enjoy it a tiny bit too much." Duan Xiuzhou: ? ??? * Top, an ascetic who is obsessed with research × bottom, a love-struck troublemaker who keeps asking for a beating * The original abandoned draft was called It's Good to Have a Home. Now I've switched stories and unlocked a new one~_(:з"∠)_ Next story: My Idol Secretly Calls Me Husband. What Should I Do? Ren Chiyang has spent years building his career overseas. A kung fu superstar, he's swept up multiple Best Actor awards. But when he returns home, he discovers that his childhood sweetheart has fallen for someone else: Yan Suifeng, a star who's got nothing going for him but his looks. Ren Chiyang frowns in disapproval. What is there to like about an actor who relies on his face alone, all pale and not at all masculine? Just then, an offer to star in a danmei film lands in Ren Chiyang's hands, with Yan Suifeng as the other male lead. His agent asks, "Are you sure you want to take this danmei role? With your status, you don't need to use a danmei movie to boost your profile or make him look good..." Ren Chiyang makes the final call: "I'll take it. I want him to see what it means to be outclassed in every way." After filming a fight scene, Ren Chiyang tosses aside his sweat-soaked shirt and shoots Yan Suifeng a contemptuous glance. "Eight-pack abs. You got those?" When it's time to shoot a kissing scene, Ren Chiyang raises an eyebrow in disdain. "That's all your acting can do? I'll give you a proper lesson tonight." When his childhood sweetheart plans another visit to the set to see Yan Suifeng, Ren Chiyang quickly invites Yan Suifeng to take a walk in the woods outside the film studio. Yan Suifeng tries to keep his heart in check, but it won't stop pounding. Someone of Ren Chiyang's status has actually lowered himself to star in a danmei film with him. He keeps showing off in front of him, deliberately flaunting his strength, patiently teaching him how to act, and getting annoyed when his fans get too close... Even during breaks, he keeps inviting him on dates in strange places~~! In the end, Yan Suifeng can't hold back. He hooks his pinky around Ren Chiyang's hand, rises on tiptoe, and carefully leans in, pressing his soft lips to Ren Chiyang's jaw as he shyly confesses, "I like you so much too. Let's be together!" Ren Chiyang: ??? That's not what I meant by outclassing him. So I'm the gay one after all. Theme: Self-reliance, strength, devotion to research, and patriotism make a person even more lovable! Those who scheme and stoop to vile tricks will end up with nothing.
