[Soldiers Sortie] [Wu/History] The World Shall Return

Wu Liuyi wrote his mother a letter. In it, he said, "Mom, you once told me that if there's someone who feels just like that tree in our yard, then he must be a pretty good person."

It was about half a year after he enlisted. Early summer had arrived, and the daylight was bright and gentle. His mother sat beneath the window, holding the letter and slowly making out each word. When she reached that line, she looked up at the old tree in the yard. Her eyes fell on layers upon layers of lush green, its branches and leaves flourishing. Every so often, a breeze would stir them, filling the whole place with fragrance.

A camphor tree lives for a hundred years.

The third book in the Military Corps trilogy.
