"I still remember that winter. The earth was bitterly cold, and on an afternoon when snowflakes filled the air, I saw that person for the first time: my older brother, born to my father and a lowly woman, then driven out by the First Madam.

That was the first time I saw him, and the only time.

When he left carrying those stiff carrots, I secretly followed him. As Brother Yanyan was leaving, I suddenly felt sad, and in my panic, I pulled off every valuable thing I had and stuffed them into his hands.

When he looked up, his eyes suddenly turned sharp."

Those were the last words Helian Yukui said to me. Then we exchanged bodies, and she went in my place to endure the endless flames of the Hell Lotus.

I am Ruan, a dead assassin.

At the very end, she turned to look at me, her gaze pleading, and said softly, "If you ever meet my brother, please treat him well for me."
