[Genshin Impact] Desire Is Never Satisfied

When I woke up, I discovered that I had transmigrated into someone else's segment, and an old man who called himself my original self referred to me as "35-year-old me."

...If I could choose, I'd like to be a complete person.

My original self is called Zandik. He works as a Harbinger in an organization called the Fatui, under the codename "The Doctor." He also goes by Dottore.

I thought it was quite a coincidence, since before transmigrating, I was also a researcher in a laboratory.

Let me make one thing clear: I'm a person with standards. I never conduct strange research or do anything utterly depraved. That's the fundamental difference between Zandik and me, thank you.

So when Zandik said he was going to Inazuma on a business trip, I looked at the assignment and thought, "Is this something a person would do?" So I volunteered to go instead and, while I was at it, did a few unnecessary things.

When Zandik said he wanted to use Archon Residue for human experiments, I read the report and thought, "Is this something a person would do?" So I volunteered again and, while I was at it, did a few unnecessary things.

Zandik said, "35, you're the segment most unlike me, and yet most like me."

I don't agree with that assessment. Though I sincerely want to push the limits of this world, I'm a respectable person. The fact that I occasionally get absorbed in this world's supernatural powers is absolutely not my fault.

As for being a villain, that's just other people's prejudice against me. But it doesn't matter. I don't care.

Also, research projects being short on funds is normal. Finding a sponsor is perfectly reasonable, and I hope everyone understands.

Zandik thought his 35-year-old segment was an extremely greedy fellow.

He wanted both interesting experiments and to act according to what was supposedly [right];

He wanted to study a certain pure-white puppet and grant the puppet's wish;

He wanted to use Eleazar to unravel Forbidden Knowledge and claim sole credit as a true sage-healer;

And he even wanted to keep a certain highly profitable collaborator all to himself.

Reader's guide:

1. The story is written in third person. There are no human experiments, but the characters can be hard to describe;

2. The CP is Pantalone, but expect melodrama and love triangles. Read with caution if that's not your thing;

3. The original characters belong to the source material. Any OOC is on me.
