Miss Profiler 2

It's recommended that you read the first book, "The Profiler Miss," first, as the plot connects more smoothly.

[Blurb]

After eight years apart, her lover stood before her again, eyes full of hatred.

Liu Hui Sheng couldn't understand how the promises they'd made beneath the moon, hand in hand, had turned into weapons they used against each other.

It wasn't until the demon named Thanatos appeared that she learned it had all begun with hypnosis.

Zhao Yu hated her, resented her, yet broke through the hypnosis and fell in love with her again, beyond her control.

In the interrogation room, Liu Hui Sheng stared at the frenzied Thanatos and said lightly:

"Of all the things you shouldn't have done, teaching Zhao Yu to hate me was the worst. That's one thing she'll never learn."

Thanatos listed all sorts of evidence that Zhao Yu hated Liu Hui Sheng, hoping to shatter Liu Hui Sheng's faith. But Liu Hui Sheng broke through it all with a single sentence:

"On my first night back in the country, Zhao Yu and I made love."

One sentence sent the demon straight to hell. In the end, she killed herself in the interrogation room.

Liu Hui Sheng gazed at the corpse, thinking she could finally retire and live peacefully with Zhao Yu. Who could have guessed that danger was closing in, silent and unseen?

Zhao Yu led a team on a mission, and the drugs they had discovered turned out to be a bomb.

Liu Hui Sheng went to eat at a roadside restaurant. The moment she stepped away from her seat, a truck ran her over, crushing her to pieces.

Thanatos, the demon who had recently killed herself during the interrogation, seemed to be leading the remnants of her forces, inching closer to them.

[Second Blurb]

The bloody case of Thanatos ended in a storm of blades, a golden prison sealing away the mad soul.

Through the fog, Zhao Yu and Liu Hui Sheng returned side by side, the blood from their wounds gathering into a rainbow atop their medals. They had just sent the God of Death back to the underworld, unaware that deep within the lair, all of Mount Olympus lay in wait.

A narrow path led deep into the valley. Thanatos's death unleashed a bloody storm in another forest.

Liu Hui Sheng kindled a tiny spark, only for the night to snuff it out at once. Looking toward the wind, she saw the robes of the gods, and behind them stood Nyx, goddess of night.

No matter their station, all things will eventually return to the night.

Souls in which evil had taken root fancied themselves gods, bringing down divine punishment in accordance with legend.

Mortal bodies were stained by the smoke of countless homes, as they gazed upon a map of crimes where demons ran rampant.

The night spread its sky screen over the human world. Beneath its dark curtain, Liu Hui Sheng stood and lit the thousand-and-first lamp.

"You bring your night. I'll light my lamp."

Zhao Yu stepped forward to stand beside her.

"It's our lamp."

Pandora's box spilled into the human world as the gods fought. In a corner of the ruins, a postcard still clung to the underside of the overturned box, with two words printed on it, piercing through the page:

Faith.

Fingers entwined, the twilight of the gods.
